KEI Observation Deck - Feb. 2, 2006

Welcome to the KEI Observation Deck

Today, just for fun, I thought we'd have a quick look at average keywords compared to better "long tailed" keywords. As you know from Wordtracker use, the higher the KEI value - the bigger the window of opportunity (usually.)

Okay, let's start with three different terms that gradually improve with each phrase...

"auto sound proofing" KEI 62.9

"car sound proofing" KEI 111.8

"engine compartment sound proofing" KEI 188.8

----------------------------

Sometimes just a little shift in thinking reveals massive opportunity within just minutes or even seconds....

Consider the phrase "joint venture" with a KEI of 0.0 and a competing page count of 46,700,000

Looks pretty competitive right?

Now consider this....

"joint venture financing and investors" KEI 1792.0 and only just currently 7 competing pages.

----------------------------------------

Did you know one of the biggest problems that SEOs have with keyword research?

Many SEOs do not ever learn how to quickly tap into the best information, because the human mind is so pre-programmed with keywords, it often prevents them from actually exploring great data. The reason why is because we have this keyword hunt mentality and we tend to "think" that we already know the best keywords.

The second biggest problem that SEOs have, once they do find the data, is that they do not learn to take immediate action with their findings. Why should it take an average of 21 days for the average SEO to impliment a strategy when it could probably be set in place immediately most of the time.

----------------------------------------

Let's look at another quick phrase comparison....

"working capital" KEI 0.005 (dreadfully competitive at 9,860,000 competing pages)

But consider....

"working capital from collateral enhancements" KEI 3136.0 (only 4 competing pages for this exact phrase cluster)

----------------------------------------

I am not suggesting anything but doing a little better research on all of the data and grabbing the wonderful opportunities that exist quickly and act upon them.

Other quick observations today:

"auto collision crush measurements" KEI 1764.0

"process color measurement" KEI 2660.0

"mailbox" KEI 0.005 with 74,400,000 competing pages

"wallmount outdoor mailboxes" KEI 316.0 with only 316 competing pages

"heavy-built mailboxes" KEI 385.9 with only 209 competing pages

All I try to do is encourage people to explore the wealth of data very quickly that is available in Wordtracker. At our live hands-on SEO Workshops we teach people how to access the best data quickly. Then as the training week goes on, we'll also teach you all you need to know to compete and go after those low KEI phrases too.

Do you need a little more practice with Wordtracker? Try using a little magic.
