KEI Observation Deck
Hi and Welcome to the KEI Observation Deck.
It's John Alexander here. Before we go back to some random behavioral observations of peoples searching interests on the same theme as the last couple of days...Real Estate.
One of the easy things that a Real Estate professional can learn to do, is to explore the conditions of their client's lives when they are in specific circumstances leading up to a move. This is one of the most fascinating studies you can do for your business that will lead you to discovering entirely new audiences which you can in turn attract to your Web site.
At our live SEO workshop, we teach people how to excel at studying behaviors of their buying audience. As I explain in my e-book, it is more about behaviors than it is about keywords....and yet sometimes there are huge advantages in just the smallest phrase combinations.
Okay...so let's take a different approach again for Real Estate brokers and agents. What type of behavior might YOUR client be involved in when considering a move to another city?
Let's see what we can find today...
How about a "cost of living" analysis or comparrison?
The phrase "cost of living" has a KEI of 0.032 and 39,200,000 competing pages for that exact phrase.
Now notice that with just slight variations you can still find genuine phrases that are really being searched, but much less competitive. Now at our Advanced SEO Workshop it really does not matter, because we teach you exactly how to compete for the more competitive phrases and how to get ranked for them too. However, if you are feeling like working quite so hard, there is nothing wrong with using a long tail keyword phrase that is less competitive, so long as it brings you genuine traffic.
Examples:
"cost of living" KEI 0.032
Competing pages 39,200,000
"cost of living comparisons" KEI 0.658
Competing pages 98,100
"cost of living comparison by city" KEI 1.360
Competing pages 356
"COST OF LIVING canada to usa" KEI 400.0
Competing pages 0
"Cost of Living Global Comparison" KEI 784.0
Competing pages 1
Okay, but that's not all I found.
Actually I quickly counted up at 33 variations based on this topic and in each instance the competing page count was less than 500. The challenge is for most people, that they never find these phrases or think about them or else they take hours and hours of research to find them. I found them all (and I'm sure there are more) in about less than 90 seconds flat.
Next, what about the more competitive search terms. You know, those low KEI phrases that everyone wishes they could get. Those highly competitive terms.
Can you obtain top rankings for those? (I hear you ask?)
Yes, you actually can get rankings for those competitive phrases and that is just one of the things we teach our students at our hands-on SEO Workshop.
Would you like to learn?
