New Wordtracker Article

When it comes to performing keyword research, do you think that most people naturally tend to research data?

Although we may say that we do, we really do not. Our natural
tendency is to try to explore very narrowly, the most prominent
keywords that are already lodged in our minds by “reason of our
experiences.”

Would you like to push your keyword research to the very limit?

Read this brand new exclusive article that I wrote just for the folks
at Wordtracker which will give you lots of tips and examples.

Long tail - random keyword observations

A bit about long tail observations:

Sometimes, people fail to realize the huge advantage there is in exploring data for the "long tail" slightly more descriptive phrases. This is because so often, people say they research keywords, but nobody has ever instructed them in exactly how to explore the hidden data. How to quickly tap into the best niches without the need of doing hundreds of hours of research.

Consider the following 2 example phrases:

"free address finder" KEI 136.1 Competing pages 188,000

"Free Residential Address Finder" KEI 139.7 Competing pages 2,860.0

Notice that just one little descriptive word like "residential" can
dramatically reduce the number of pages you are competing with
by over 185,000 competing pages.

There are dozens of searches being done using synonyms and alternative descriptive phrasing but the challenge for so many of us, is this.
Our brains are geared to "guess" logically at the terminology that is already in the forefront of our experience. Very seldom do people understand how to explore data the easy way to quickly open up those longer more precise terms.

We say we do keyword research, but our brains dictate the most logical choices. Choices based only on logic and without digging in to explore data, will never reveal the true gold. "Keyword forensics" is the ability to explore the hidden evidence that most Webmaster miss.

Okay, let's look at a few other high KEI phrases at random:

Can you discern user behavior through some of these?

"find business through email address" KEI 480.5

"Street Address to Telephone Number Lookup" KEI 522.3

"adding basement bedroom" KEI 784.0

"streaming webcam chat ip address" KEI 4,623.0

"Address for Harry Belafonte" KEI 2,993.0 (who wants to know?)

Or perhaps consider the power of a miss spelling

"addicting games" KEI 0.0 2,050,000 competing

"addiciting games" KEI 1,350.0 only 6 competing pages

but still 90 searches in the last 90 days and remember this is still less than a fraction of 1% of all the searches done on the Internet.

More keyword observations coming up soon.

New keyword observations about "building" things

Welcome to the KEI Observation Deck.

As you know, the higher the KEI value, the bigger your window of opportunity. Not perfect but in general, a KEI value of 100 is considered a potentially good phrase. A KEI of 400 is considered an excellent phrase.

Let's dip into Wordtracker for a few seconds this morning and see what we can find for good to high KEI phrases based on the idea of "building" or "making" something.

A few quick observations to start with...(thanks to Wordtracker)

Here we go then.....

"easy fun ways to make money" KEI 71.9

"Beauty Make up Tips" KEI 154.8

"how to make hair barrettes" KEI 450.7

"Graduation Cakes to Make" KEI 756.3

"real estate Upper Makefield, PA" KEI 1,040.0

"what trees make good firewood" KEI 4,489.0

"Sound a Fisher Cat Makes" KEI 70,840.0

Okay now, shifting forensic gears slightly, let's see what else is hiding just below the surface for exact keyword phrases that are related to "build."

Some very interesting niches here:

"How to Build Deck Benches" KEI 96.5

"How to build solar ovens" KEI 115.6

"How to Build Deck Rails" KEI 210.0

"how to build secret compartments" KEI 280.3

"building a basement in your home" KEI 512.0

"easy build shed kit" KEI 520.0

"How to Build an Icehouse" KEI 661.0

"build a reptile rack" KEI 676.0

"how to build military bunkers out of sand bags" KEI 729.0

"how to build custom furniture" KEI 1444.0

There are audiences that are searching for something legitimate and it appears that there are enormous opportunities for those who are willing to give these searchers some decent tutorials on building or
on making things. Fascinating!

How are your keyword research skills?

Charles Lane passes on at 102 - God bless him

Hello all,

I normally am posting keyword observations, but tonight I just felt like writing to you about the recent passing of one of my favorite actors of all time.

You likely don't know his name, but if you saw his face in literally hundreds of older films. Actually somewhere around 800 films.

He was "Charles Lane," who passed away today on July 9 at the ripe old age of 102.

Charles Lane, the actor from the 1960s TV sitcom "Petticoat Junction'' and appeared often on television's "I Love Lucy. But even earlier than that he appeared in what seems like 100s of old movies.

He continued to act on into his 90s and when he accepted an award from cable television's TV Land channel in honour of his 100th birthday, he made a point of saying he was still available for work.

God bless him!
I will miss Charles Lane.

Here is a short video clip of his 100th birthday celebration a couple years ago.

Okay, I'll get back on track and start with some more keyword observations again very shortly.
