Are you Starting Your Own New SEO Business?
Here are a few more thoughts to ponder in preparation for a career change.
Let's face it, the SEO or SEM industry continues to grow and there are a lot of people that have Web site that just do not work very well in term of traffic or in terms of visibility on the major search engines.
10 years ago, I shifted completely out of one field and started my own business as an Internet Consultant. Now back in 1997, there was very much around in the way of e-commerce Web sites. But it did not take long for me to realize that many of the people who were on the Web in them days, were really only interested in one thing.
They wanted to find a way to make a profit and have their Web site become an asset instead of being an expense. Fair enough, but those were nearly like the early days of the pioneers. Everything was so new to everyone. Nevertheless once I adjusted my business model, that is what I tried focusing on - always making the client's Web site:
1. Extremely visible (in terms of search engine rankings)
2. Creating unique and compelling content
(that would compel someone to buy.)
I realized that you nearly always needed both of these elements happening before the profits would come. Of course while this is still true today, the methods and the way search engines work are significantly different.
These days, you need to lift your sights a little higher than just obtaining good rankings. You need to know that with each client you take on, you can learn many different ways that will make them profitable.
So don't just aim for top visibility these days. Focus on your client becoming profitable (that's really why they hire you.) If you make that one of your main objectives you will be applying the beginning of wisdom as part of the foundation for your new SEO business.
This can really accelerate the popularity and the reputation that follows your work. Your client needs profitable results in sales and conversions too. Being able to make a client profitable is what can build YOUR reputation ultra-quickly.
Fulfill this objective over and over again and your services and your demand for services will spread quickly. If you'd like a few more of my tips on how to fast track a new SEO business then here is:

Does the Thememaster tool still exist?

Hi Allen,
Thememaster is unfortunately no longer around. The original
ThemeMaster was a pretty amazing tool until purchased by another
company quite some time ago and to make a long story short, the new company changed it and it never worked the same.
We have not taught any strategies involving Thememaster for several years. However, there are definitely up-to-date SEO methodologies which are more effective and yes, even more influential than Thememaster.
We teach these at our local SEO Mastery classes or (if you cannot attend a
workshop) you can also learn all about the latest methods in our
online SEO Workshop Resource Center. http://www.SEW-WRC.com
We now have instructional Chats and live Webinars so you can watch
demonstrations and you'll discover there are quite a few tools
that will allow for much greater accuracy in SEO, Also Accuracy in
theming, competitive analysis, solutions for many other challenges
that some people are not aware of.
All presentations are archived so that you can view them on your
own time schedule. But the resource center does have a membership
fee. I hope that helps.

Can you recommend a good HTML editor?

I enjoy the free SEO Tip of the Day and my question was if you could name a good SEO friendly HTML editor.

Dear Randy, thank you for reading the Free SEO Tips and I'm glad you're enjoying them. I don't really think of HTML editors as being "SEO friendly" regardless of what they may claim. Real SEO skills is really more about your knowledge and how things really work with search engines. Then you apply that knowledge using whatever tool or editor you wish. That said, I should mention that we've seen "Content Management Systems" that can be unfriendly to SEO sometimes.
I probably bought Dreamweaver ton early (just never really enjoyed using it when it first come on the market.) I understand it's a lot easier to use now. For a lot of my early SEO work I actully enjoyed using Microsoft Front Page (because it was simple to use.)
These days, there are a couple HTML editors you should have a look at.
If you have a limited budget, there is a nice little editor called NAMO (which costs around $100.)
If you want something that has quite a few more bells and whistles, you should check out version 2.0 of XsitePro.
This program is my new favorite because of all they have built into it (something like over 80 different point and click features) plus it comes with a couple hundred professionally designed templates.
You can create sitemaps, robot text files, build a search feature into your Web site, handle audio or video all just by pointing and clicking. The one suggestion I have, is make sure and do the tutorial that comes with it and it will quickly show you how to access everything. I had 2 new sites built in just over a week, once I followed the tutorial. Here's a video demonstrating everything it does.

There has been much discussion lately about content relevancy and the relationship between Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI) and search engine optimization. Some say LSI has nothing to do with how Google scores pages. Others hail LSI as a powerful method of optimizing or theming your content and leads to marked improvement in natural search results.
What do you think? To answer this question, it's alway best to approach someone who is an expert and knows about everything involved mathematically. You'll appreciate reading Semantics and SEO expert, Michael Marshall's response to this question.
